What is so odd about short guys dating a taller girls?

Everywhere i go,i noticed the short guys are always being mocked at for dating girls that are taller than they are.Why do people always give a second look to couples where the guy is shorter than the girl?Why the stigma?This is 2009 people!

Perhaps the answer lies in the evolutionary history of the human species. On average men have a larger muscular structure compared to that of women? It could be that as we humans evolved, the female of the species tended to select for males with a larger structure. The idea being that larger males would be more capable of hunting and gathering and thus being able to provide better support for females that chose to be their mate. I believe this theory is what is referred to as sexual sexual selection.

As a result of this, as time progressed males became larger than females and with time we have also become mentally attuned to seeing women with a taller and on average larger male. Hence, when we observe women with men of smaller stature the image is at odds with what we would normally expect.

Now I am sure you know that people tend to react to anything that is “abnormal” or at odds with what they are used to or what their mental picture is. It is for this reason that people often take a second look at couples where the man is of smaller physical stature compared to the woman.

Perhaps human evolution is moving away from when women select males based on their physical stature. Perhaps there are some other factors that women seek out like intelligence. Or perhaps there are particular physical characteristics that indicate intelligence, so given several hundred thousand years or so women seen with a shorter man will not be such an oddity.
